Overview

“Super-Frog Saves Tokyo” is a short story by Japanese author Haruki Murakami, first published in 2002. It follows the story of Katagiri, a mild-mannered, middle-aged man who is visited by a six-foot tall frog claiming to be a superhero. The frog enlists Katagiri’s help in preventing a massive earthquake from destroying Tokyo. “Super-Frog Saves Tokyo” is a work of magical realism that explores themes of heroism, the nature of reality, and the importance of confronting one’s fears.
