Violet Sorrengail

A clever and courageous second-year in the Rider Quadrant at Basgiath War College, and the protagonist of the series. At the beginning of Iron Flame, Violet has just learned that her country has been lying to its citizens for hundreds of years to conceal the existence of venin (dangerous dark wielders) who are wreaking havoc just outside Navarre’s protective wards. She grapples with this new knowledge while simultaneously working through her own emotional turmoil after learning that Xaden Riorson has been concealing his efforts in the resistance movement. Violet suffers from chronic pain issues, which impact her daily life and force her to work twice as hard to keep up with her fellow cadets. Her signet allows her to wield lightning, and her dragons are Tairn and Andarna.
