. A contemporary reimagining of Charles Dickens' David Copperfield, the novel reimagines Dickensian themes of poverty and injustice in the modern-day context of the opioid epidemic. Demon Copperhead was selected for Oprah’s Book Club and won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction, sharing the honor with Hernan Diaz’s Trust—marking the first time in history the award was split between two works.
