Feyre Archeron
The protagonist of this novel and of the A Court of Thorns and Roses series. Previously a human, she was transformed into a faerie and now serves as High Lady of the Night Court. She is motivated by a fierce desire to protect her loved ones and save humanity from enslavement by Hybern. Previously, she was engaged to Tamlin, before realizing that Rhysand was her true mate. Feyre enjoys painting and wields a wide range of magical powers, including elemental powers drawn from the High Lords of Prythian.

Rhysand
High Lord of the Night Court and Feyre’s mate. Lucien Vanserra

A powerful and ancient being from another world, bound to the form of a faerie, and a member of Rhysand’s Inner Circle.
The Morrigan, or “Mor”
A powerful faerie, close friend of Feyre, and member of Rhysand’s Inner Circle. Throughout the course of the novel, she comes to terms with her own sexuality.
Helion
High Lord of the Day Court. Despite his seemingly flippant and flirtatious manner, he is the source of great wisdom.
The King of Hybern
The powerful but evil ruler of Hybern and primary antagonist of the novel. His goal is to enslave humanity and enforce a strict hierarchy in which High Fae rule over all other beings.
Kallias
High Lord of the Winter Court. His wife is Viviane.
Thesan
High Lord of the Dawn Court. Charming, refined, and elegant, he hosts the meeting of the High Lords in his glittering palace.
Tarquin
High Lord of the Summer Court. Though he is kind, he holds a grudge against Feyre and Rhysand, who tricked him in the past and stole a magical artifact from his palace.
Beron
High Lord of the Autumn Court. His sons plot against him and each other to gain control of his kingdom.
Eris
Eldest son of Beron, heir to his throne, and former fiancé of Mor. Lucien and Mor both blame him for their past suffering, though he denies responsibility and allies with Rhysand in order to secure his position in the Autumn Court.

Prince of Adriata and captain of Tarquin’s guard.
Keir
Steward of the Court of Nightmares and leader of the Darkbringer legions. He cruelly abandoned his daughter, Mor, after the termination of her engagement to Eris.
The Bone Carver
Younger sibling of the Weaver and Koschei. He is a powerful and ancient being who hails from another world and is older than the faerie race. He attempts to make a deal with Feyre, requesting the ouroboros mirror for his services.

Sister of the Carver and Koschei. She is a powerful and ancient being who hails from another world and is older than the faerie race.
Bryaxis
An immensely powerful and mysterious being whose powers are related to fear and who resides in the pit of the library. He makes a deal with Feyre in exchange for his assistance.
Miryam
A half-human, half-faerie queen who long ago left Jurian, to whom she was engaged, and fled with her people to the island of Cretea with her mate, Prince Drakon.
Drakon
Mate of Miryam and co-ruler of Cretea, he is a member of the winged Seraphim race.
Jurian
A legendary human warrior who was resurrected by the Cauldron and now serves Hybern for private reasons of his own.
Clotho
Mute priestess who works in the Velaris library. She was brutally victimized by men and sought solace in the library.
Madja
An experienced and elderly healer who tends to the wounds of Rhysand’s Inner Circle.
Ianthe
A scheming and hypocritical High Priestess who betrays Feyre and her sisters to Hybern and sexually assaults a long list of males.
Brannagh
One of Hybern generals sent to examine the wall. Her twin brother is Dagdan. She is a daemati, or a faerie imbued with psychic powers.

Lord Graysen
A human lord, son of Lord Nolan, and former fiancé of Elain prior to her transformation into a faerie.
Lord Nolan
A human lord and father of Graysen. He hates faeries and fortifies his estate against them.
Queen Vassa
A mortal queen, betrayed by the other queens for her reluctance to ally with Hybern. Bound by the queens to a death-god, she takes the form of a flaming bird during the day.
The Suriel
A strange faerie creature and a member of the Suriel species, this particular Suriel has met Feyre at several points in the past.
Nephelle
A cartographer who saves Miryam despite her small wings and becomes the subject of legend for this feat.
