Overview

Cold Mountain, a 1997 historical novel by Charles Frazier, tells the story of a Confederate soldier named Inman who deserts the army and embarks on a treacherous journey home to Cold Mountain, North Carolina, where his true love, Ada, awaits. The novel explores themes of love, war, and the human capacity for resilience and endurance. Cold Mountain won the National Book Award for Fiction in 1997. In 2003, it was adapted into an Oscar-winning film directed by Anthony Minghella.
