Overview

“Winter Dreams” is a short story by F. Scott Fitzgerald that was first published in 1922. It is widely considered to be one of Fitzgerald’s finest short stories and is often considered a prelude to his 1925 novel, The Great Gatsby. The story follows the life of Dexter Green, a young man from a modest background who becomes infatuated with a wealthy young woman named Judy Jones. Set against the backdrop of the Roaring Twenties, the story explores themes of ambition, unrequited love, and the disillusionment that accompanies the pursuit of the American Dream.
