Overview

Tobias Wolff’s short story "Bullet in the Brain" was first published in The New Yorker in 1995, and later as part of a collection called The Night in Question. This was Wolff’s third collection of short stories, known for its tales filled with dark humor and contemplations of life. "Bullet in the Brain" tells the story of Anders, a cynical book reviewer who reflects on a key moment from his childhood after he is shot in the head by a bank robber.
