Das Kapital—or in English, Capital—was written by German philosopher, economist, and political revolutionary Karl Marx
. Marx published the first volume, parts of which are the focus on this guide, in 1867. After Marx’s death, his friend and collaborator Friedrich Engels publish a second volume in 1885 and a third volume in 1894.
