Overview

Dicey’s Song, a young adult novel by American author Cynthia Voight, was published in 1982. It is the sequel to Homecoming and won the Newbery Medal in 1983. Dicey’s Song continues the story of the Tillerman children, who are abandoned by their mother and left to find their own way in the world. Set in the small town of Crisfield, Maryland, the novel depicts Dicey Tillerman’s struggle to create a stable family life. As she takes on the role of caretaker, Dicey faces the challenges of adolescence, friendship, and the search for acceptance.
