Overview

Dangerous Liaisons, a novel by French author Pierre Ambroise Choderos de Laclos, is an epistolary work first published in 1782. It delves into the lives of the scheming and manipulative Vicomte de Valmont and the Marquise de Merteuil. The two former lovers engage in a game of seduction and betrayal, using others as pawns in their intricate plots. Fueled by revenge and desire, the novel explores themes of power, morality, and the consequences of decadence in pre-revolutionary France.
