Overview

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, published in 1964, is a children’s novel by British author Roald Dahl. The story follows young Charlie Bucket as he embarks on a tour of the mysterious Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory, along with four other children who have found golden tickets in their Wonka chocolate bars. Dahl’s imaginative narrative explores themes of imagination, morality, and the rewards of virtue. The novel was adapted into two films, Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory in 1971 and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in 2005. The 2023 film Wonka is a prequel to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory based on Dahl’s famous character.
